1890’s Black Striped and Chiffon Silk Ruffled Mourningwear Skirt
An 1890’s fair condition black silk chiffon and striped satin skirt, recommended for reference use. The outer layer of the skirt is shaped with smocking and cording along the hem edge ruffles.
There is quite significant shattering to the chiffon as shown, particularly on the front and around the hem.
The waistband under layer has built in boning, and the silk is largely missing.
There are a few hooks and eyes for closure, but most are missing.
The piece fits a size 2-4 but as it is fragile, is not recommended for wearing.
